The
Match
For
ninety minutes nothing else matters
Except
what happens
On
the field below.
The
rest of the world
And
all that’s going on
Is
irrelevant to the thousands in the stands.
The
outcome determines the mood
Of
everyone leaving the stadium.
There
is war all around
And
children are suffering
But,
depending on the result
Life
is good, or, bad.
For
ninety minutes other things matter
What
happens on the field below
Is
fun and entertaining and important
As
it gives fans release
But,
it’s not life or death
It
doesn’t matter to the billions outside.
